Souassi is one of the cities of the Tunisian Republic, administratively belonging to the Mahdia Governorate. It has approximately 20,000 inhabitants from various regions. It includes 11 localities, among which are:
Mansoura, Sidi Zid, Ouled Bou Helal, Thouwabetia, Ksasba, Zoueirat, Ouled Moulahm North, Ouled Moulahm West, Chahimat Qibliya, Messlane.

Souassi is distinguished by its agricultural character (livestock and crops).
The people of Souassi are known for their generosity and hospitality. Among its most famous figures is the poet Mohamed Essaghir Essassi, along with many other activists who contributed to Tunisia’s liberation from French colonialism.

Souassi is a city composed of three neighborhoods: Lafhache, El Melaji, and El Villette.
